Say Yes to the Dress, Part II

After my first dress shopping experience, I got serious with weight loss. At my second dress shopping experience in November, I was about 25 pounds lighter. I scheduled two appointments for Black Friday while I was visiting my parents in PA for Thanksgiving.

Up first: David’s Bridal in Monroeville, PA

I came in with a list of dress styles that I wanted to try. Sadly, I wrote down the online dress number which doesn’t correlate to the shop stock numbers, so my consultant, Petra, and I flipped through the dress catalog. I pointed out the ones I liked and a few more, so she went to grab them. I also came prepared with a tan strapless bra and a body shaper. To the dresses! Please ignore my serial killer face. I thought it would be a good idea to keep my face expressionless in all the photos.

Fist of rage

The bottom dress was my dream. Trying it on did not disappoint. Petra was also working with a petite-size 2 bride next to me who tried this dress on before me. Ms. Size 2 said the dress looked better on me (and I had to agree, it was too fluffy for her small frame). Had we been planning a big church wedding, I probably would have purchased this dress. It fit like almost perfectly and was as light as a cloud. But it just didn’t fit the summer-garden wedding we had started to plan.

Overall, I didn’t hate any dresses right away. But dress #2 stuck with me. I loved the beaded straps and the bodice rouching. The fabric was light, and the dress was comfortable. I decided to purchase this dress still knowing that I had one more appointment…
