Save the dates. STDs. What bride doesn’t giggle at that immature abbreviation? As I worked through our wedding planning tasks, I decided to send out save the dates. I really wanted Virginia Tech save the dates but couldn’t find anything (until too late). So I shifted gears to look for a maroon and orange color palette that wasn’t too “fall-y” for our June wedding. After searching through sites of wedding… View Post »
Virginia Tech wedding invitation inspiration
The majority of my wedding planning searches involved the words “maroon and orange.” I was on the hunt for a Virginia Tech wedding invitation. A month or two after our engagement, I came across these beauties. Even though I loved the colors against the brown background, I didn’t love the price. It seemed a bit steep for my current pocketbook. I saved the link and kept searching for the perfect,… View Post »
We’re not going to the chapel,
And we’re going to get married. Yes, you read that correctly. Mac and I are not having a church wedding ceremony. Why? It’s a bit of a religious firecracker. Mac was raised rather without an organized faith. His father is Jewish, his mother is Catholic, and neither is particularly observant. Mac describes himself as a “cashew.” Not my term. I came up with these turkey club sliders with ingredients I had on hand in the fridge. My turkey club sliders are an easy afternoon snack, a filling appetizer on game day, or a quick dinner served with… View Post »
Hammering away
As I mentioned, I did a lot of vendor research before Mac came home on leave. Basically, I wanted him to have to make a few choices as possible, so he wouldn’t spend his entire leave discussing shades of tulip and the finer points of letterpress invitations. And in the grand scheme of wedding planning (when you have two weeks to decide your major vendors), I find it more important… View Post »
Hitting the ground running
After a bit more research, I narrowed the venue field to two choices: the Cape Fear Botanical Garden and the Fort Bragg Club. While I love Fox Hollow, we would have to bring everything in (tents, tables, chairs, catering, the whole nine yards). This was an enormous cost in addition to the reasonable rate for the venue. I then started getting down to the nitty gritty for our two remaining venues. As… View Post »
