What, what, what am I doing?

I feel like a need a sassy gay friend to pull me back here.

I have decided to train for and run a half-marathon next year. Actually, I’m planning to run at least three half marathons: the Country Music Half in Nashville in April, the Hokie Half in Blacksburg (duh) in September, and the Outer Banks Half in Nags Head in November. A lot of my friends started running races after we finished college (in addition to all my blogger friends who run), and it seems like a good way to stay focused on working out.

After doing some research, I think I’m going to follow the Hal Higdon half-marathon training plan. It’s about twelve weeks, so I’ll need to start my official training by the last week of January. I’m hoping to work on some Couch to 5K runs in the interim. BFF Ashley is planning to run the Country Music half with me. She’s in a running club and has a running coach, so I will be mooching off of her.

Any runners have advice for a newbie? What races are you planning to run?
