Welcome back to another month of Life Lately, friends! September blew by in the blink of an eye, and I’m still wrapping my brain around the fact that it’s October. October 1st, but still. Here are some updates as we head into the last few months of 2021.
- September was a busy month. We started things off by spending Labor Day weekend at Big Bend National Park. It was great to be mostly off-grid (like with no internet) and outdoors for a long weekend. And can you believe that I took those Milky Way photos on my phone? I also spent a weekend in Williamsburg for class. Finally, I zipped up to Kansas City for a few days. Originally, I was slated to do a fair at the University of Missouri, but it switched to a virtual format at the last minute. So I spent some time on campus working on projects and taking care of other meetings.
- In between all of the travel, I turned 33! Sadly, it was a very bad sports day, but we celebrated with an early dinner at The Melting Pot. Melted cheese and chocolate can make anything better, right?
- My love of September continues. Fall is slowly making its way to far west Texas, so I pulled out our fall decor to spruce up the house. I’m looking forward to slightly cooler weather and the chance to dig into the long sleeve section of my closet.
- I found so many new flavors in the past month that I feel like I should split these into a separate post. First up were the Salted Caramel Brownie Oreos. I rather like the Salted Caramel Oreo thins (which have vanilla cookies). These were similar filling with a chocolate cookie, and they have a pinch of flaky salt on top. They were a good balance of sweet and salty. Next up are the Apple Cider Oreos. Overall, I liked them, but I thought the apple cider flavor could use more cider. I also grabbed a bag or two of the new Cookies and Scream Halloween M&Ms. Oddly enough, I found them in the seasonal aisle at Joann Fabrics. They were a fun flavor, and I enjoy the crispy style M&Ms.
Did y’all do anything fun in September?

I miss living in a city with a Melting Pot. That’s the yummiest place to celebrate and enjoy a delicious meal!

It’s such a fun way to celebrate! I like having one in town for the first time in a few moves.
