Life lately – February 2019
I originally planned to write and publish this post last Friday, but Purrburger decided she wanted to cuddle. It’s a few days late, and I think kitty cuddles were well worth the delay.
- Normally January feels like it lasts about 47 days. This January almost flew by, and I’m still wrapping my brain around the fact that it’s February. I opted to not pick New Year’s resolutions or a word of the year. I’m focusing on creating monthly goals, instead. Happy to report that I crossed off January’s and am now working on February’s.
- We’re still waiting on unofficial and official orders, and I have a feeling we’ll be waiting a few weeks more. But that hasn’t stopped me from over-researching everything about the Kansas City area. Cheesecake Factory, Trader Joe’s, and Old Chicago? Yes, please. I’ve also started applying for jobs. Since we don’t think we’ll be moving for several more months, I’m not applying for tons of positions, but I figured it wouldn’t hurt to start that process now. The itch for a pre-move purge has come back, so I’m slowly pulling clothes out of my closet and finding other items that won’t be making the next move. Fingers crossed I can sell some of the stuff (like three Crock Pots). But the need to purge all the things will never stop me from buying more books.
- Mac and I are getting close to visiting every National Park Service property in Georgia and South Carolina. We crossed off Fort Pulaski (near Savannah) over the weekend and are heading back to Charleston next weekend. Confession: we’ve already been to Fort Pulaski and Fort Sumter, but we are going again to get the NPS Passport stamp. After that, we’re planning a trip down to the Golden Isles (Georgia’s barrier islands) and a trip to Atlanta to finish them off. I may have already started planning trips to visit NPS properties that are reasonable road trips away from Leavenworth.
- Georgia has been teasing us with the most amazing weather. Sorry to everyone who endured the polar vortex. It’s been in the 70s with plenty of sunshine this week, and I’m not ready for the seasonal weather (aka endless rain) to return. I opened most of the windows in the house to air things out and to take advantage of the great weather.
- I spent a few days in PA visiting my parents, sister, brother-in-law, and brand-new niece. She’s a darling baby. Nephew #2 arrived a few weeks early at the end of January. He stayed in the NICU for about 10 days because of his bilirubin levels, but everyone is now healthy and at home.
What’s new with y’all?
