I was so excited that our house was clean enough to post that I forgot to recap Mac’s 30th birthday. On his actual birthday, we recreated our first date by ordering a pepperoni pizza (and Italian nachos, yum) from Old Chicago. I also surprised him by buying 30 gold balloons and giant 3-0 balloons. Somehow, Bagel Bites managed to pop one of the balloons with 30 minutes of me bringing them home.
Mac’s brother and his fiancee arrived on Friday. We picked them up in Denver and decided to stay up in that area all day because we bought tickets for the Capitals-Avalanche game on Friday night. We headed over to Golden and had lunch at the Blue Canyon Bar and Grill (where our waitress asked if we were college students). We wanted to go on the Coors Brewery tour, but the wait was over an hour. We then headed down to Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison (which was about 10 minutes away). After that, we drove up to Denver to check out the mile high marker at the state capitol building.
From there, we went over to the game. The Caps won 4-2, so Mac and Joey were happy. On Saturday, we checked out Garden of the Gods before taking the Cog Railway up Pikes Peak. The Summit House was an absolute cluster. After the always tiring trip that is Pikes Peak, we headed home and watched the Final Four games (while I did homework. Fun.). Sunday morning, we woke up, brunched at the Broadmoor, and checked out the Academy on the way back to Denver. It was a great weekend, and I’m glad they were able to visit for Mac’s birthday.

Sounds like a really fun way to celebrate a 30th birthday! I think guys are funny because they don’t necessarily like to celebrate all out like girls do, but it sounds like you packed lots of fun things into Mac’s big weekend – including a Caps win, nicely done! š

How fun!! I always loved when guests would visit because we could do the touristy things without feeling like weirdos! š
