Today, I’m talking about my favorite charity. I’ve always enjoyed doing volunteer and charity work, and I’ve become more passionate about causes as I’ve gotten older. I actually have two favorite charities and two favorite donations.
My first charity is the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation. The Foundation supports diabetes research awareness and education and also provides scholarships and emergency grants to sisters in need.
My other charity is Relay For Life. My family has been affected by pancreatic cancer, so I got involved with Relay in college. If you didn’t know, Virginia Tech hosts the world’s largest collegiate Relay For Life. I served as a team captain my last two years in college, and I really was inspired by the passion and dedication of the committee members. I then served as a committee chair for two years in Fayetteville. The American Cancer Society, mainly through Relay, has been able to fund some fantastic cancer research in its 30 year history.
I also donate blood (mainly through the Red Cross) and donate my hair every two years or so to Locks of Love. I have plenty of both and strongly believe that you should bless others with what you have been given, even if it’s your hair or bodily fluids.
What charities do you support?

I’ve donated blood a few times, but it’s been a while. I’ve participated in Right to Life activities and Race for the Cure walks. Your post got me thinking – what are my favorite charities?? I enjoyed reading about your connection to yours. I think it’s important to find causes you can really connect with!

I try to be involved in local projects with direct impact on the community I live in. In the past I’ve done the Komen race and of course tried to make sure I had stuff for Salvation Army and Foundation for the Blind when they called. I’m really hoping to be more involved locally after we PCS.

The USO and Children’s Miracle Network are my two big ones, but I try to donate to Relay and the American Heart Association, when I see people asking for money on Facebook.
