Y’all, this loaded baked potato dip is like crack. It’s utterly addicting and oh so popular. I made a batch for our tailgate over the weekend, and everyone who tried it swooned. Make it today, try it tomorrow, and then tell me how much you love it. If anyone proposes marriage after trying it, you must name your first child Lisa. Amen. This dip is zesty, cheesy, and filling. You can swap out the Italian dressing for a spicy Ranch dressing if you can find it. Spicy Ranch isn’t the easiest to find, and Italian dressing is much easier to find. Add the dressing a tablespoon or so at a time, and taste it before adding more. I also like to serve the dip with baked potato chips or Wheat Thins. You definitely want a sturdier chip.
When I first found this recipe, I decided to tweak it so anyone who’s tailgating can make it (even if you don’t have access to a full kitchen). You can even make this loaded baked potato dip if you are staying in hotel room with a microwave and a fridge. You can buy regular bacon or grate your own cheese, but I like the prepared stuff for quick prep. If you’re making this while tailgating out of town, you can buy a small food storage container with the ingredients.
PrintLoaded baked potato dip
- Total Time: 15 minutes
- Yield: 12 1x
Ingredients
- 1 16-ounce container of sour cream
- 1 8-ounce package of shredded Cheddar cheese
- 1 package of microwavable bacon
- 1 packet of buttermilk ranch dressing mix
- 1 packet of zesty Italian salad dressing mix
- 1 bag of potato chips
Instructions
- Microwave bacon according to package instructions. Remove extra grease, cool, and crumble.
- In a large bowl, combine sour cream, cheese, ranch dressing mix, and half of the zesty Italian dressing mix. Taste.
- Add more Italian dressing if a spicier flavor is desired.
- Fold in cooled bacon.
- Transfer to serving container. Cover and chill at least 4 hours (overnight is best) until serving with potato chips or crackers.
Notes
- You can use real bacon. I am lazy, so I do not.
- This dip is really thick, so you’ll want a sturdy chip. Ruffles or Baked Lays work well.
- Since it’s dairy based, throw it out at the end of your party. It will not keep.
- Prep Time: 15
