I was watching “The Patriot” the other day, and I noticed that one scene makes me cry without fail. I don’t cry at most movies, but a few always cue the waterworks.
1. The Patriot: when Susan runs after Benjamin begging him not to leave again
2. Armageddon: when Harry grabs the detonation device and then tells Grace goodbye.
3. Miracle: who doesn’t cry watching capitalism defeat communism?
4. We Are Marshall: just the whole movie. This came out the year after April 16th. The school-wide tragedy hit me really hard.
5. Remember the Titans: the team sings “Goodbye” to Gary
6. A Walk to Remember: the last ten minutes of this movie are spent sobbing
7. Finding Neverland: another sad movie end
8. Up: holy crap, did the first 8 minutes of this one make me cry. I was crying so hard, I woke up Mac the first time I watched it.
9. Gladiator: “Who will help me carry him?” Ughh. Lucius, 8 year olds shouldn’t make me cry.
10. Steel Magnolias: the ultimate scene has Sally Field screaming in agony about the unfairness of life that caused her to bury her daughter. The gut-wrenching sobs are broken up by Clairee telling Ouiser to let M’Lynn hit her to do her part for humanity. Laughing through tears.

I suck at movies, and the only one I’ve ever seen on this list is UP. 500 times… And I still cry every single time.
Lauren {Fizz and Frosting} says
I cry so easily while watching movies that it’s ridiculous. The last really, really heavy cry was after watching Marley and Me. NEVER AGAIN.
Shoshanah says
Definitely A Little Princess. The scene at the end where Sara’s father doesn’t recognize her gets me every time!
