Now that I’ve been running a bit more (and it’s not 9 degrees), I’ve figured a bit of a routine for my runs and my gear. I have no scientific formula for picking running shoes. I go for comfort and color (either purple or maroon and orange). I haven’t put enough miles on these to judge how long they will last.

Nike Flex Experience??? (I truly have no idea what design shoes these are. Based on my research, these look the closest to what I wear. Obviously, mine are purple.)
Pros: they’re purple. And really comfy so far.
Cons: not too much traction. The trail I’ve been using has been pretty icy, so I have had to be very careful.
TuneBelt sport armband (for iPhone 5C)
Pros: easy to use, can easily use screen through screen protector
Cons: fits awkwardly when wearing lots of layers; can slide down whilst running
Koss Fitclips headphones
Pros: wrap around ears and stay in place; generally fit inside ear canal
Cons: take some finagling to get into ears
Polar FT7 heart rate monitor
Pros: tracks distance and heartrate
Cons: you have to wear an electrode belt on your chest (basically under your boobs). This isn’t the most comfortable to adjust when wearing several layers.
What sort of gear do y’all use when running?

I run with my garmin watch and that’s about it. 🙂

I use a belt to hold water and keys. And a garmin watch like Jen said.
