Please enjoy some Third Eye Blind / somewhat post title inspiration.
Apparently, this song is about meth addiction? I missed that when I was 9. Then again, I also missed that “Hotel California” was about drug addiction. I asked Mac. Of course, he knew it was about meth addiction. Clearly, I’m not as wise in the ways of the world as he is.
These days, I spend my time as a domestic goddess who doesn’t do any chores. The transition from working 40+ hours a week (let’s assume that I actually worked 7-4 like I was supposed to) to working once or twice a week has been rough for me. When I was working full time, the house was generally clean, laundry and dishes done, and dinner made. Hell, I managed to lose 30 pounds and work out five or six days a week. Now I struggle to get out of my pajamas before noon. I lack the ambition to clean the bathroom, or dust, or generally do anything that doesn’t involve Pinterest or the Food Network. For those of y’all who work full time, switching to a non-full time job isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. I’m bored. My $80,000 education costs me more each month in loan payments than I have been making.
I found a great article on The Levo League and think it’s relevant even if you’re willingly not employed full time (like stay at home moms or fellow Army wives).
1. Make a daily schedule. Stick to it. AKA don’t lounge in bed in your flannel squirrel jammies until noon. Eat breakfast before the west coast gets to work. Maybe squeeze in a workout.
2. Plan out your day. I’ve seen a bunch of lovely cleaning charts. I need to make one and hang it up to motivate myself to keep the house clean. Better to spend 30 minutes a day than hours all at once.
3. Make a weekly goal list. I’m keeping my goals low-key: empty the dishwasher. Clean something. Don’t watch so much TV.
4. Maintain a positive attitude. I need to work on this. Some days, I get really bored. I also get frustrated and lonely when Mac doesn’t come home til 8 pm. I know it’s not his fault, and I make an effort to not bring it up (because he surely doesn’t want to be there that late).
For those of you who transitioned from a job to being at home, how did y’all handle it?

I missed the hidden message in “Semi-Charmed Life” when I was 9, too, lol! I’m a teacher and I usually work full time, but in the summer I all of the sudden have NOTHING to do! It’s great for about a week but after that I just about go stir crazy! These are great suggestions for staying on track!

i remember when i moved back home to finish school, i had the same thing happen. i left my full time job away from parents rules, to no job and parents rules so i could focus on school. i hated it. i was SO bored sometimes b/c i finish my work for the week in one day and have nothing to do. i eventually got into get paid to sites (GPT sites) like Swagbucks and Viggle to keep me busy and keep some type of money coming in even if it was in the form of gift cards. hang in there and enjoy it though!

It was really hard at first but then I learned to love it. So many things needed to get done and it was nice to be able to do them. Now that I will be working again, I will have to figure out a balance. I love Third Eye Blind and yup its about meth addiction haha.
