25for25: February update
After the sluggish progress of January, February seems to be flying by. Here’s my progress for this month.
In honor of my 25th birthday this year (umm, what?), I’ve decided against traditional new year’s resolutions and am hopping on the 25 for 25 bandwagon. Basically, 25 goals I want to accomplish by my 25th birthday on September 18.
1. Be a better Christian: attend church regularly, finish The Purpose Driven Life, read the Bible.
I’ve been to church almost every Sunday (last week, we were cleaning the garage. Yesterday, we were in Augusta). I also bought a self-study Bible.
2. Lose 25 pounds and keep it off. I’m getting serious with the Ideal Protein.
Well, I went off Ideal Protein. I’ve been working out pretty regularly but have yet to lose pounds. Soon, young grasshopper.
3. Read 25 new books (I’ll give myself until the end of the year for this one).
7-ish / 25. I read a lot in order to not watch TV.
4. Move at least once (possibly twice!).
We’re getting things together to move to Augusta. At the moment, we’re planning on moving again once Mac finishes the Signal course.
5. Visit somewhere I’ve never been before.
Planning an anniversary vacation in Savannah and Charleston!
6. Start graduate school. Virginia Tech has made this attempt quite dramatic already.
I am currently enrolled in two graduate classes! Just need to pay for them. Oops.
7. Organize our house and get us in better shape to move.
We are deep cleaning the downstairs, and we’ll move our stuff this week. Then, we’ll deep clean the upstairs. We also got rid of a bunch of stuff.
8. Grow my blog to a point where it can make me some monies.
Working on it.
9. Celebrate our first wedding anniversary on June 9.
10. Figure out our budget, stick to it, and pay off some of my loans.
We’re doing well on our first full month of budgeting. We did have some large expenses: we bought a kitchen table and a coffee table set.
11. Complete an organized run (at least a 5K).
I’ve been working on my Couch to 5K training (C25K). Anyone know a a good 5K in NC?
12. Work out 3 days a week.
Except for this past week with packers and movers, I was working out about 5 days a week.
13. Cook a new recipe at least once a week.
Oh, yeah. I’ve cooked a new recipe every week. They haven’t all been good, sadly.
14. Try out all of the kitchen gadgets we received as wedding gifts. A good many of them are still in their boxes in our garage. Whoops.
We used the deep fryer. I’m going to try out the cookie gun to make cheese straws for the wives’ coffee this Saturday.
15. Watch our Hokies play.
Alabama and Georgia Tech in Atlanta this season.
16. Hike part of the Appalachian Trail.
I’m going to convince Mac to go to Asheville for his birthday, and we’ll go then.
17. Design a Hokie room in our next house.
Our office / craft room will be Hokie, very very Hokie.
18. Actually finish a blog project I start for myself.
Well, I’m 2 for 2 on this one thus far.
19. Learn how to properly apply eyeliner.
Yeah, no.
20. Do some pins from Pinterest.
Several recipes. More to come. Maybe even a link party for successful Pinterest creations.
21. Host link-up parties on my blog.
I created a few buttons and just have to figure out how to create the little code box. Then it’s game on.
22. Be pen pals with my college friends.
I finally sent Jeymie her birthday card.
23. Make new friends.
24. Keep the house and garage clean.
Our house is significantly cleaner now that Joey’s stuff is gone. We’re still purging a bunch of stuff in the form of four bags for Goodwill.
25. Enjoy turning 25!
