Back in 2010, I had absolutely no clue how to prepare for or how to even approach dealing with deployments. Mac had zero interest in our FRG, and we were still dating. Looking back with the benefit of hindsight, I really wish I made Mac sign me up for the FRG (the commander wasn’t particularly strict on it being restricted to spouses and families). Most of what I knew came from my one Army wife friend (and the second one I made because of her) and my mother-in-law (from my brother-in-law’s first deployment. Not the best reference because he got shot while in Iraq). And I had not yet discovered the glories of Pinterest.
This time around, I know what sort of stuff to do. Mac is going to be in a different area of the country and at a different base, so we’ll have to figure out care packages and the like out once he gets there. But I’m planning to send at least one care package a month, filled with all sorts of goodies and letters.
It’s also important for us back home to fill our time. Working really helps pass the time, so hopefully someone will hire me! I’m starting my half marathon training in a week or two, and I’m going to start Pure Barre classes (a new studio is opening pretty close to the house).
How do y’all prepare for deployments? Who else is getting ready for another?

For my husbands last deployment I went home and visited both families – that kept me SO BUSY. I think signing up for the exercise classes will be awesome.. definitely something to do for YOURSELF as you’re waiting on him to return home!
