Hello, friends! We’ve made it to the last few weeks of 2022. This has been a hectic, chaotic, and stressful year. But it’s had plenty of good.
- We took an overdue vacation at the end of October to London. The Broncos made up their cancelled 2020 game and managed to not lose to Jacksonville. Mac indulged my love of Tudor everything and let me plan the whole trip. We (I) finally visited places like Hever Castle and Hampton Court Palace for the first time. All in all, we really enjoyed the trip, and I’m now planning way too many other trips.
- In pretty exciting news, I passed my comprehensive exam for my doctorate. I didn’t post here in October because I spent basically the whole month writing. This is a pretty significant milestone in the program. I will admit that I was 100% convinced that I didn’t pass, so I’m relieved that I did. My next step will be the dissertation proposal, and I start working on that in the spring.
- November absolutely flew by. My last conference was in Virginia Beach, and I snagged a room at a waterfront hotel. Not the worst view I’ve had for work travel, even if a hurricane stopped by on the second day. We drove up to PA to spend Thanksgiving with my family for the first time since 2013. Our game with UVa was cancelled due to the tragedy their campus community suffered, so our season is over. I’m done with work travel for the semester and wrapping up my last class.
- I don’t have a ton of new flavors even though it’s been a few months. Because of work travel for both of us and vacation, we haven’t cooked a ton. These Mexican Street Corn Cheetos weren’t bad. They aren’t a really strong elote flavor (if you’re wanting an authentic experience). They’re kind of zesty and spicy. The stuffing flavored kettle chips (from Target’s stored brand) lasted about 10 minutes. They were a nice blend of savory and salty with the good kettle chip crunch.
What are your plans for December?
