Hello, friends! October and the final quarter of the year are upon us!
- Sadly, my favorite month of the year has ended, but I am pumped for fall weather. I definitely missed having seasons in El Paso, and I have been looking forward to cooler temperatures. Our first chilly morning came a few weeks ago, and I treated myself to a Starbucks hot cocoa. I’ve been loving the cool mornings and the leaves turning.
- September has been a month of travel. We spent a quick weekend in Blacksburg for the Virginia Tech – Boston College game and caught up with some dear friends. I’m also in the middle of my travel / busy season, the first full travel schedule since Fall 2019. It’s fun to be back on the road and engaging with people in person, even if it can be a bit exhausting by the end of the week.
- I also celebrated my 34th birthday! We went apple picking then treated ourselves to Hamilton at the Kennedy Center. I now understand the hype and all of the “Room Where It Happened” photo captions. The cast was great, and I enjoyed the performance.
- School has been a roller coaster this semester. Our comprehensive exam is due at the end of the month, and I may be procrastinating (even though every single professor has told us to not do that). I have a lot of work to get done, but it’s hard to focus and prioritize what I need to work on.
- A few new flavors this month. I finally found a small package of Oreo Cakesters. These are very similar to chocolate gobs (or whoopie pies for the non-southwestern PA crowd). They were fine, but I don’t need to try them again. The Dunkin pumpkin spice Goldfish were a delightful find. They’re a pumpkin spice flavored graham cracker, and these should be a year-round option. I also grabbed a bag of Zesty Southwest Doritos at Sam’s Club (but we ate them before I took a snap of the bag). They’re the love child of Cooler Ranch and Nacho Cheese, and they should also be a permanent flavor.
Do you have any fun plans for October or Halloween?
