Patriotic smores bark

Grab your red, white, and blue party supplies and make this patriotic smores bark for your next Fourth of July party.

Mac ran to Wal-Mart the other day and grabbed a package of these patriotic Hershey bars. They have chunks of red and blue cookies and cream bits, and they’re right up our alley. So I brainstormed a few recipes and came up with this patriotic smores bark. This smores bark is crunchy and chocolatey. It’s perfect for a Fourth of July cookout or party. And it’s ready in a cinch.

This pan of smores bark loaded with M&Ms and marshmallows will disappear in minutes.

You’ll start with a base of graham crackers. I used the whole sleeve of eight graham crackers. From there, you’ll layer the cookies and cream Hershey bars. You can also swap out the non-seasonal version if you can’t find the patriotic ones, or you can use plain Hershey bars. I opted to use five bars, broke them apart, and spread them over the graham crackers. Next, sprinkle half of the M&Ms over the bars. I tried to fill in the spaces between the Hershey bar pieces. You can use either mini or regular M&Ms. Finally, top the bars with the marshmallows, the rest of the M&Ms, and the sprinkles.

Layer graham crackers, cookies and cream bars, and M&Ms under toasty marshmallows.

From there, you’re ready to toast. I opted to use my broiler, and I popped the pan under the broiler for about three minutes. Keep an eye on the pan, and toast the marshmallows to your preferred toastiness. I like a bit more toasty marshmallow. The Hershey bars and M&Ms will also melt under the marshmallows. If you want to skip the broiler, you can use over standard oven setting instead and bake these for 5-7 minutes. Again, keep an eye on the smores bark.

Bite-sized patriotic smores bark is a quick and easy dessert for a summer barbecue.

After you pull the smores bark out of the oven, let the pan cool for a few minutes. You can break these apart and serve them while they’re warm and gooey. Or you can pop the pan in the fridge for 10-15 minutes to let the Hershey bars set up. Either way, you’ll break them into smaller pieces. Serve them up and watch them disappear!
