Life Lately – May 2021
I feel like everyone skipped over the Justin Timberlake “It’s gonna be May” meme. And then I blinked, and it’s halfway through May.
- We took our first (non-move) overnight trip in over 18 months. After a whirlwind weekend in southeast Arizona and Tuscon, we are home. We hiked, we ate, and we tried to enjoy a weekend away from the chaos. Some blisters, a sunburn, and a speeding ticket later, we are back to the grind. I managed to sleep awkwardly, woke up with a sore back, then drove 4+ hours home. And I can barely move. Life in your 30s.
- In positive news, Fort Bliss is finally starting to reduce restrictions. Mac’s unit isn’t included in the good news yet, but I’m hopeful that everything is moving in the right direction.
- I’ve also started working out again. I generally like to work out first thing in the morning, but I wake up by 5:30 to start working at 7 am. Since I work an earlier day, I’ve changed my schedule to work out after I clock out in the afternoon. Right now, I’m using the Barre Works app on my Firestick. I won’t get on the Peloton / fitness bike bandwagon because my knees cannot handle spin class. Any good recommendations for workout apps?
- And more updates on new flavors. Blue Bell is churning (lol) out new flavors. We tried their spin on a funfetti cake. It’s a vanilla base with white cake, sprinkles, and the classic bakery icing. Overall, a tasty flavor, but one we probably won’t buy a lot. A year on, it looks like the low calorie soda world is finally recovering. A lot of artificial sweeteners are made in China, so now you know why you couldn’t find Diet Coke. Mac loves Mountain Dew, so I grabbed the Major Melon Zero flavor. You can find both regular and Zero options. It was a bit too sweet for me, and I thought the watermelon flavor was overwhelming.
How’s your May been going?
