And just like that, we’ve reached the greatest month of the year.
- Mac and I are home from a jam-packed Labor Day weekend. We road tripped across South Dakota and Nebraska and knocked out eight National Park Service sites and stamps. We made it home late Monday night and are ready for another long weekend to recover from this long weekend.
- September is finally here! My 31st birthday is in two weeks, the Braves are in town, and travel season officially kicks off. I’m currently planning to attend a handful of career and graduate schools fairs, and the office has a few events. Add in football, baseball, and a host of other fall activities, and the month fills up pretty quickly.
- We finally finished Bones after an unintentional two-month break. And we’ve moved onto Castle, another crime drama. We’re always on the hunt for good show recommendations, so feel free to drop what you’re watching in the comments!
- And what monthly recap would be complete without a seasonal M&M and Oreo update? I haven’t been to the store in a bit, so I haven’t seen the new maple creme Oreos that are coming out right about now. But I did find these cocoa crisp M&Ms. They’re a chocolate version of the crispy M&Ms: think Cocoa Krispies instead of Rice Krispies. They also have a hint of dark chocolate under the outer shell.
What have y’all been up to?

Rob and I are dying to cross off those National Parks! Was the drive crazy?

Driving to the South Dakota parks wasn’t too bad. We drove 5 hours from here to Sioux Falls, SD, and stayed overnight. It was about three hours from Sioux Falls to Minuteman and Badlands (they’re across the interstate from each other). Add another hour or so to Rapid City (which is a good base for Jewel Cave, Mount Rushmore, and Wind Cave). The tough drive was across Nebraska. We just had a long drive, and we encountered several one-lane construction zones that slowed things down. The interstate was also closed because of a wreck for about 10 miles, so that added a bunch of time.

Bones was one of our shows for so long, but we never finished it! And now I’m realizing that we NEVER finish shows…

It took us a while, but we finally got to the end. The last few seasons are a little bit shorter which helped!
