Life lately – October 2018
Whew. It’s already the second week of October. I feel like once football season starts, the weeks pass by so much more quickly.
- We spent the weekend in Blacksburg for the Virginia Tech – Notre Dame game. The outcome isn’t quite what we wanted, but we had a great time hanging out with friends and enjoying one of our favorite places. We also did another round of house hunting and got our usual treat of Carol Lee’s donuts.
- If you didn’t see on Instagram, I am no longer employed. #funemployment. It was completely unexpected, so I’ve been adjusting to life as a housewife again. I guess I no longer have an excuse to not deep clean and organize my house. I’ve started on a purge of the magazines.
- In another unexpected surprise, Hurricane Michael is due to hit us tonight or tomorrow. We still have all of our supplies from Hurricane Florence a few weeks ago (and from Hurricane Irma last year). Given where Augusta is located, we won’t see the brunt of the storm but should get plenty of rain and wind.
- We visited Congaree National Park on our drive back from Blacksburg. It’s located just outside of Columbia, and it was easier for us to stop on the way home instead of driving from home. We also may have stopped at Trader Joe’s to stock up as Columbia’s store is the closest store. I was super excited to find the apple cider jam in stock. Mac and I are doing a keto reset this week because he has his height / weight test next week, but we’re planning to make some sort of tasty pastry with it once his test is over.
- Now that the weather may be cooling off, I’m planning more weekend trips and expeditions. I definitely want to check out Ninety-Six National Historic Site and some of the other South Carolina NPS properties, go wine tasting in North Georgia, and maybe squeeze in a trip to the Golden Isles.
What’s going on with y’all?
