I think I mentioned that Mac and I are members of our local zoo. Thursday night, the zoo hosted a fundraiser called Moonlight on the Mountain. A bunch of local restaurants and breweries set up sample tents around the zoo campus, and this event was mercifully 21 and over only. No kids at the zoo might be the best thing event. It was a lot of fun, and it was even better because Mac didn’t have to work on Friday.
After the doors open, everyone kind of surges in. So we decided to head for the tasting areas that were further away from the zoo entrance then work our way back towards the entrance. The tasting areas are set up around the animal exhibits, and most have 5-7 restaurants with plenty of samples. We wandered around for a bit, tasting a bunch of different foods and drinks. At one particular stop, two tents next to each other had longish lines. Mac and I each got in one line and realized that we’re pretty much crushing this marriage thing. The zoo had enrichment activities at some of the animal exhibits. We checked out the bear (which was how they train bears for medical exams) and the tiger (a flavored box). After that, it was getting past our bedtime, so we headed home.
Have you ever been to Moonlight on the Mountain?

21 and over at the zoo sounds like the BEST possible way to go to the zoo… love it!

Sounds like fun! Our local zoo had a Zoo Brew night that my husband thought sounded like fun. I bet that it’s quiet and calm to go to the zoo after hours with adults ๐

Our zoo in Iowa did a Zoo Brew once a month, and it was one of my favorite things we did when we lived there. It was so much fun to walk around and drink at the zoo without any kids around.
