So today’s prompt is about road trips. Belinda asks if we’ve ever been on one, and I had to chuckle at the thought of going on only one road trip. I’m going to divide my main trips into moves and vacations. I’ve spent a lot of time in the car, and this isn’t including random holiday trips to PA and Alabama to visit our grandparents or trips for sporting events.
1990 – move from Colorado to North Dakota
1996 – move from Colorado to Alabama
2001 – move from Alabama to Pennsylvania
2006 – 2010 – moves between Pennsylvania and Virginia for college
2009 – helping Mac move from Virginia to Washington state
2009 – helping Mac move from Washington to Oklahoma
2010 – helping Mac move from Oklahoma to North Carolina
2010 – move from Pennsylvania to North Carolina
2013 – move from North Carolina to Georgia
2013 – move from Georgia to Virginia
2015 – move from Virginia to Colorado
1994 – Yellowstone and Grand Tetons, Wyoming
1995 – Arches and Dinosaur National Parks, Utah
1998 – Orlando and Busch Gardens, Florida
2001 – Gettysburg, Pennsylvania
2001 – Niagara Falls, New York
2003 – college visits from Chicago to Colorado to St. Louis
2004 – trip to Alabama to renovate our old house
2005 – college visits to Blacksburg, Charlottesville, and Williamsburg
2007 – road trip through New England
2008 – Niagara Falls, New York
2012 – honeymoon to Outer Banks, North Carolina
2013 – Savannah, Georgia, and Charleston, South Carolina
It’s hard to pick out a favorite trip. I really enjoyed traveling so much as a kid, and I think road trips are the best way to vacation. Laying on the beach is nice, but you tend to stay in once place. Moving so much has helped me appreciate what makes the United States so unique. Our country has so many cool things to see, and I intend to see as many as possible.
