Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup of shortening
  • 1 cup of granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup of light molasses
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 2 cups of flour
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. ground cloves
  • 3/4 tsp. ginger
  • Extra sugar

Instructions

  1. Cream shortening and sugar together until fully.
  2. Add molasses and egg and beat until incorporated.
  3. Stir in flour, salt, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, and ginger. The dough will be sticky.
  4. Form into 1 inch balls and roll in extra sugar.
  5. Bake at 350 degrees for 7-8 minutes.
