Leslie’s wedding

This weekend was a complete and total blur. We drove up to PA on Friday afternoon. After grabbing lunch, we headed over to the reception venue to set up. Adam’s dad arrived with the bar equipment, and we were the only ones there. My family isn’t known for being late, so I called Leslie. Turns out she was in a bit of a fender bender en route to the facility. No worries: her trailer hitch took 90% of the damage, and she was fine. We set up, changed, headed over to the rehearsal, and then went to the rehearsal dinner.

Saturday morning came very early. Leslie originally told me we were leaving for the salon at 8:15 and then came in at 7:40 to wake me up by telling me we were leaving in 10 minutes. I made it over to the salon before out 8:30 appointment time, and we got our hair and makeup done. We went back to our parents’ house to hang out and eat lunch before getting dressed.

We headed over to the church for the 1 pm ceremony. Leslie and Adam opted for a full wedding mass which I had never encountered before. The ceremony went smoothly and was beautiful. It was definitely a very quick hour plus. I was a spaz and forgot my camera, so we don’t have any ceremony photos yet (just the formal portrait ones I took on my phone and the photographers’ teasers).

There was a gap between the ceremony and reception, so Mac and I went home to pack an overnight bag. One of the major wedding snafus occurred when the hotel with the room block lost all of the reservations and refused to guarantee anyone a room. We were hoping to snag a last minute room but to no avail.

We rode the shuttle over to the reception and took some more pictures before introductions. We were introduced then sat down for toasts. My dad went first, then me, then Adam’s older brother, Jerry. Leslie’s godfather (a retired Air Force O6 and dear friend of our dad) also made a toast to Mac and the military (which really embarrassed him because everyone kept coming up and thanking him for his service). We ate dinner, and the party started. Leslie and Adam cut the cake, danced, and threw the bouquet. Then pretty much everyone (not us) drank way too much and got incredibly ridiculous. For example: one of my mom’s BFFs was so drunk, she got out of my mom’s car to get her cookie bag from the shuttle, she walked around my mom’s car and then got in the car of Adam’s sister’s boyfriend.
