Friday, I headed up to Baltimore to meet my parentals. If flying were half as wonderful as Amtrak, it would be halfway decent. We checked in and headed down to the Inner Harbor.
We decided to walk around to Fort McHenry which is a much further walk than it seems. It was really cool to spend the Fourth of July in the same place where the words that became our National Anthem were written.
The rangers lower the flag daily at 5 pm, and the people watching help fold it up. FYI, this video is about 11 minutes long. The rangers did a short presentation which you can’t really hear over the wind. The action starts around 6-7 minutes.
We headed back to Inner Harbor for an all-you-can-eat crab feast at the Rusty Scupper. None of us partook in the free crab, but it was a great meal with a better view. We were literally in between the fireworks.
Saturday, we drove over to Annapolis to check out the Naval Academy and the town. My in-laws joined us, and my father-in-law provided us with some insider Academy graduate knowledge.
I sent Mac this picture. He then decided he wants to steal this cannon. |
After the campus tour, we walked up to State Circle to check out the Maryland State House then over to Church Circle.
We finished out of the evening with a stop at Arundel Mills outlet mall. Another train ride home, and I was home Sunday afternoon.

Looks like a fun weekend! I love the Arundel Mills outlets — I think they are way better than Potomac Mills down in Virginia!

You didn’t by chance get a picture of the courthouse down there did you? If so. I’d love to see it. That is where we got married.

I love the Inner Harbor, although I haven’t had a chance to go since I graduated college. Would love to make it back there sometime soon though!
