The Mistresses of Henry VIII – Kelly Hart

I recently read The Mistresses of Henry VIII by Kelly Hart. It examines the women who were his mistresses and the women who started off mistresses and became wives. Overall, I enjoyed it. It’s a quick read with no new information, just known information reorganized and presented in a different manner. For the new Tudor reader, this is a good starter book on Henry’s notorious love life.

Elizabeth of York: A Tudor Queen and Her World – Alison Weir

My first review of 2014 is Alison Weir’s Elizabeth of York. Another superb biography by Ms. Weir, it examines the life of Elizabeth, the white rose of York whose marriage to Henry Tudor helped end the Wars of the Roses and founded the Tudor dynasty. Elizabeth was born a princess, was declared a bastard, and eventually became queen after her marriage. She led a very interesting life, and all Tudor fans should learn more about her.
