So Thanksgiving is two weeks away. Does anyone else think that 2013 is flying by? Mac’s course graduation is two weeks from tomorrow on Thanksgiving Eve. His parents and grandfather are coming down for graduation and Thanksgiving. This will be the second holiday that we’ve hosted; the first was Thanksgiving in 2010 right before Mac deployed.
Our first Thanksgiving table. |
I keep seeing lush, gorgeous table-scapes and décor ideas on Pinterest. Sadly, we aren’t going to do too much because we’re probably moving a week or so later. Luckily, this time around, we have actual china and plenty of real cups (unlike the plastic plates and cups you see here). I saw a beautiful table runner at Marshall’s a few weeks ago. I went back last week to buy it, and Marshall’s had zero fall stuff left. All their seasonal décor was Christmas. Did we forget that Thanksgiving is the actual American holiday?
Not so much of this. |
We’re sticking with the basic Turkey day menu: turkey, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, sausage dressing (Miriam makes this), gravy, cranberry sauce, rolls, and dessert.
What are your Thanksgiving plans? What are y’all making to eat?

We are a military family, too – and our nearest family is THOUSANDS of miles away – so it will just be the 4 of us! We are going to have a Ham (my husbands request over Turkey), Broccoli Casserole, my MIL’s Sweet Potatoes, Mashed Potatoes, Rolls, Veggie of some sort and desserts (with an S..haha) I’m looking forward to EATING and watching the Macy’s parade!!! I can’t believe it’s almost here already!

I’m going to be going home to Texas for Thanksgiving for the first time in years! I’ve been spending the last two years with my husband where ever the Army has him at the time – last year, we were at Fort Huachuca and the year before Fort Drum – now he’s in Korea – hopefully we’ll host our first Thanksgiving next year in our first home together! I’m going to keep my fingers crossed!

The spread from your first Thanksgiving looks really nice. The fall colored flowers were a great touch. This year I’m probably just going to head over to my parents’ house because I know I’m going to have to work.

We’re probably not doing Thanksgiving this year. Your menu is pretty much exactly what I normally do though.
I can’t believe Mac’s course is already over. Seems like it’s flown by!
