My mom and I got stuck in traffic driving to the Botanical Garden. Ughh. I was freaking out that I was going to be late to my own wedding. I arrived and quickly squished myself in to the bodyshaper then unceremoniously handed my ladies their gifts. For some reason, my bridesmaids weren’t dressed yet. They zipped each other up while I pulled my dress out. Our photographer arrived and snapped a few shots of my dress and shoes (one of their standard shots).
I stepped into my dress, and MOH Leslie zipped me up most of the way. Side note: I bought a tan strapless bra from Victoria’s Secret because my other one (which I wore to my fittings) was black. Vicky’s has loads of padding which caused my dress to not zip effortlessly like it did when I picked it up. After some readjusting, we got the zipper up. The bridesmaids wrapped their bouquets in ribbon, and we were ready for photos! By this time, it was around 4:30, so we weren’t going to get all of our formal portraits done before the ceremony. I was frustrated but realized that it was a bit too late to worry.
Our wedding weekend
Friday, we rehearsed, relaxed over dinner, and hosted an open house. Wedding morning dawned bright and early, we got prettified, then had our first look. We waited for some guests and headed down the aisle. Our ceremony was short and sweet, we finished our family portraits, and then took some bridal party photos. At our reception, we were introduced, ate dinner, raised a few toasts, visited our guests, shared special dances, and didn’t smash our cake. Our married friends enjoyed an anniversary dance, and we embarrassed our single friends. Next, we rounded them up for some group shots then snuck out for some private moments while they danced the night away. We partied til the end, packed up the car, and enjoyed a quiet night in our home. Sunday, we said goodbye over brunch and drove into the sunset to an Outer Banks honeymoon.
