I’ve also enjoyed the bachelorette party scene in “The Wedding Date.” While we weren’t quite as crazy (and nobody paid a male hooker), we still had a great time. My camera was dead at this point, and I haven’t seen any photographic evidence of our shenanigans.
We all met for dinner at the American Tap Room in Clarendon. While the food and drinks were delish, the service was terrible. It took me (in a pink bachelorette sash and crown) over twenty minutes just to get a class of water. We had to flag down the two waiters at our table (we were the only table in the section) to order apps and then dinner. It was kind of ridic. The service was so bad that one of my sorority sisters subtracted the 20% tip they automatically added. We ate, finished our drinks, then booked it out of there.
Next stop was around the corner at Spider Kelly’s. We’d been there last summer when Mac was home on leave. The line at the bar wasn’t long because everyone was engrossed in the Caps game, so we grabbed drinks and headed to one of the side rooms. This guy who walked in behind us decided to join our party and ask for some of the Mardi Gras beads we donned earlier. I gave him some of mine to get him to leave. My friend Lauren took a louder approach. Homegirl has balls of steel, cussed him out, and got him thrown out of the bar. Great way to start the evening!
Thankfully, my friends followed my request of no penis paraphernalia. They did get some bachelorette scavenger hunt cards, so we passed them out and set out to accomplish them. All the cards had points, but we didn’t have a prize for winning.
After Spider Kelly’s, we headed across the street to SoBe, a karaoke bar. The ladies collected the completed cards and passed out new ones. During this time, we got up and sang “Man, I Feel Like a Woman.” Pretty sure our token guy friend filmed it.
Several of the girls started flirting with a group of guys on the patio at the bar next door (the name escapes me) to finish their cards, so we decided to move over there. The front room had a dance floor set up, and we broke it down. Caution: white girls (and guy) dancing. The music was great, and we partied til close.
Sadly, the bar kicked us out at 1:30 (srsly, college bars stay open later to make more money. Learn from them). We wandered back to the hotel, ordered pizza, and crashed around 4 am. I had a blast, and we left pretty early the next morning.
On my way back from Arlington to Falls Church (where the in-laws live), I managed to get lost and wound up at the Washington Monument. Ahh, the joys of driving in Northern Virginia.
What did y’all do for your bachelorettes?
