My sister is having a baby in about six weeks, and I’m throwing her a fall themed baby shower. As I did with her bridal shower, I went kind of crazy with the Pinterest planning (check out the board here!).
Invitations
You can find tons of options for gorgeous fall invitations. We didn’t have a particular color or theme beyond fall in mind, and we decided on these. I ordered them on Etsy, and the shop was amazing. She had the proof sent to me in about half an hour after I placed the order at 10 pm on the weekend. We chose to do a Facebook event for most of the family and printed up a handful of invites for those who don’t have Facebook.
Menu
Leslie wanted to have food that was easy to eat (so didn’t need a lot of utensils or balancing) and didn’t require a time for a sit-down meal. We picked a menu to give people the flexibility of eating when they arrive or before they leave. While it may be unusual, we chose a meatball bar. Both our mom (Mary) and my sister’s mother-in-law (also Mary) have a meatball recipe they’re famous for. We added a third recipe for another option, so we’ll have cocktail meatballs, Swedish meatballs, and a spicy Mexican meatball.
My personal favorite idea is a caramel apple bar. Instead of having full apples, I think we’re going to slice up apples and have dips and toppings like a sundae bar. We’re also going to have an apple cider punch (with and without booze) and a pumpkin spice coffee station. I love the idea of hot and cold drinks to give people the ability to choose what they want.
Decor
Thankfully, I’m part of a family that loves fall. We didn’t have to buy too many decorations because we’re planning to use stuff we have on hand. I had some paper pumpkins and lanterns that I bought a few years ago, and I’m going to put together a fan wall similar to this. For Leslie’s bridal shower, we made a bunting for the fireplace, so I may repeat that for her baby shower.
Games
Leslie and I are on the same page when it comes to bridal and baby shower game ideas, and neither of us likes the inappropriate kind. We’re going with some of the standards like guess the baby food and what’s in your purse.
What are your favorite ideas for a fall themed baby shower?
