Happy first month of the year! December was a good reading month for me, but January may not be as fast. I picked up an almost 600 page biography that I started several years ago, so I’ll be working through that for a while. Elizabeth of York: The Forgotten Tudor Queen – Amy Licence Amy Licence has written a slew of biographies on English queens. This one looks at the… View Post »
My only request on our trip to Germany was to visit Neuschwanstein Castle. I’ve seen pictures of it for years and knew that I absolutely wanted to go. My dreams came true, and it was the highlight of my trip. The location, the architecture, and the castle interior were amazing. I’ve been to Versailles, and I have to say that Neuschwanstein Castle surpassed Versailles in terms of opulence and overall… View Post »
Try this pimento and white cheddar macaroni and cheese for dinner tonight. Cheesy and peppery, this macaroni and cheese is perfect comfort food.

Happy New Year, friends! We’re already in 2019. Time feels like it’s flying these days. I definitely didn’t mean to drop off the face of the blogging world at the end of December, but scheduling blog posts fell to the bottom of my very long to-do list. We spent a wonderful week and a half in Europe with my in-laws, my brother-in-law, sister-in-law, and their son. I’m excited to recap… View Post »
I was going to say something like, “Wow. It’s already the last month of the year.” Then I remembered that I was posting this halfway through the month. I also broke out of my funk in November and have already finished five books this month (three in the last five days!). Le Temps Viendra: A Novel of Anne Boleyn – Sarah Morris I really don’t read too much historical fiction,… View Post »
This post is sponsored by 1 Natural Way. All opinions are my own. Mac and I will celebrate our seventh anniversary this weekend. Like many military newlyweds, we decided to enroll me in Tricare after we got married. I had health insurance through my employer at the time, but Tricare offered the same coverage at a more competitive price. It also allowed me to keep the same medical insurance… View Post »
On our way home from our last trip to Blacksburg, we took a slight detour to visit Kings Mountain National Military Park and Cowpens National Battlefield. The battlefields are only a few miles apart on Interstate 85, and it’s worth the time to visit both. They’re also rather small, so you may find separate trips aren’t worth it. In the the grand scheme of the American Revolution, the American Army… View Post »
These past few weeks have been full of travel for us, and we have more travel for Christmas coming up. Mac and I are both totally guilty of going a bit hog-wild when it comes to holiday foods, so we have been making an effort to stick with low-carb options and remain keto while traveling. Pack your own snacks Anyone else out there have a go-to snack at pit stops?… View Post »
